Hype for Mortal Kombat 1 was high before anyone even knew it was going to be called Mortal Kombat 1. Now the next game in the series has been officially revealed, that hype train is picking up speed. So much so that the next MK title's premium edition is currently the best-selling pre-order on the PlayStation Store.
A quick peek at the PS Store after sorting it by best-selling shows Mortal Kombat 1's £90 premium edition is currently the most in-demand game on the platform that hasn't launched yet. That's impressive for a number of different reasons, especially when you look on down the list to find the likes of Diablo 4 and Final Fantasy 16 chasing its tail.

The most obvious reason it's impressive is because it's the pricier version of the game that more of you seem to want. The regular £65 edition is all the way down in eighth position. Forking out an additional £25 will get you the Kombat Pack, early access to DLC which will be more extensive than any MK game to have come before it, and even early access to the game itself.
Mortal Kombat 1's release date is also a lot further away than pretty much everything near the top of the PS Store's best sellers right now. Final Fantasy 16, Diablo 4, and Street Fighter 6 all launch in June, a full three months before we get more Mortal Kombat. Interesting that more people are willing to spend their money on a game they can't play until September than one they can play in June.
