Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic 2 was a well-received title by both fans and critics when it first launched in 2004. When it was announced that the game was being ported to the Nintendo Switch, Knights of the Old Republic fans were glad to get a chance to return to one of their favorite RPG experiences. However, when the game actually launched, it turned out that the Switch version of Knights of the Old Republic 2 had a game breaking bug that stopped players from completing its story.
The bug would occur after the Basilisk Crash cutscene when landing on Onderon, causing a game crash as soon as the cinematic was completed. This meant that players would be stuck at that point in the story, without any real way to fix the issue. The developer of the Switch port of the RPG, Aspyr commented on Knights of the Old Republic 2's game breaking bug, stating that it would come out with a fix for it shortly.

Fans initially weren't given a timeframe of when that patch would come out for Knights of the Old Republic 2, but it seems that now Aspyr has finally released a fix for the bug. Titled the Onderon Hotfix Patch, it attempts to deal with some of the top reported problems players have had with the Switch version of Knights of the Old Republic 2. On top of the list is a fix to the game crash issues occurring after certain cutscenes, with a reference to the Basilisk Crash scene in particular.
As well as dealing with the famed Basilisk Crash bug, Aspyr is also dealing with other problems in Knights of the Old Republic 2. Some mid and late game saves were also reportedly broken for players, with areas like Dantooine and Korriban being known to cause inexplicable
