Good news Kao fans - the titular kangaroo's neck will still extend upwards whenever he's in a body of water.
Although there are many things about Kao the Kangaroo that stick out to fans, one of the most prominent ones is how the game treats water traversal. Ever since the original Dreamcast game, whenever Kao goes into deep water, his bottom half will walk underwater while his head will periscope above, extending his neck to a comical degree.

Although the extending neck has no baring over gameplay, it's one of the trademarks of the series and a great little easter egg for long-term fans of the series. Tate Multimedia, the developer of the recently announced Kao the Kangaroo reboot, has confirmed on Twitter that the easter egg will be making a return in the latest game, sharing a clip of Kao underwater with his head popping out of the top.
Alongside the clip, the Kao Twitter account said, "We want to answer one very important question...yes, Kao's neck still extends!", clearly noticing how much the fans wanted the feature to return. The reveal trailer for the reboot showed several locations and gameplay styles, but it avoided showing any water gameplay, which seems to be why fans have been asking about the feature.
Kao fans have reacted positively to the return of the joke, although some have noted that players who have no idea how Kao reacts to water are going to get quite the shock the first time they jump in.
