We might be almost two full months into 2022, and four huge games might have launched in the last month alone, but the industry isn't done celebrating 2021 just yet. For a lot of reasons, last year will go down as a quiet and unremarkable one in gaming. However, there were still plenty of games that will live long in the memory and perhaps even go down in history, with It Takes Two topping the pile.
Quite literally, in fact, as Hazelight's co-op hit currently has more Game Of The Year awards than any of its 2021 rivals. It can now add another to that still-growing pile as It Takes Two was dubbed Game Of The Year at the annual DICE awards this week. The award brings It Takes Two's tally up to 82. 25 more than its closest competitor Resident Evil Village, but 239 short of The Last Of Us Part 2 which set a record with 321 awards in 2020.

Cody and May's adventure to the brink of divorce and back wasn't the only game celebrated at The DICE Awards, which returned to an in-person event this year. Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart picked up four awards as it was celebrated for its animation and dubbed Family Game Of The Year. It Takes Two won that title at The Game Awards back in December which was an interesting choice.
Guardians of the Galaxy also picked up two DICE awards, and Deathloop beat the competition to take home the trophy for Outstanding Achievement in Game Direction. As touched upon above, the past four weeks might have given us the favorites to become 2022's GOTY very early doors. Pokemon Legends: Arceus had everyone raving at the end of January, and now Elden Ring is doing the same despite its early issues on PC.
