The ensemble cast for has already been revealed. The upcoming comedic thriller from actor-turned-filmmaker Clark Duke (Arkansas) has also wrapped production.
The new comedy thriller, billed as “a Southern-fried siege, with shades of Dog Day Afternoon and Die Hard,” is written by Chandler Duke, Billington Garrett, and Duke. It will revolve around an exotic dancer who will soon rob the strip club where she works to escape her life and pursue her “big dreams.”
Stranglehold will star Pretty Little Liars and Wilderness actress Ashley Benson as Bailey, the “exotic dancer with big dreams,” and Apples Never Fall’s Jake Lacy as her army veteran husband Tim. Lacy can also be seen in features and shows like How to Be Single, Their Finest, Otherhood, High Fidelity, and The White Lotus, while Benson is known for her starring roles in Spring Breakers and Eastwick, among others.
Joining Benson and Lacy in the upcoming feature are Golden Globe winner Ron Perlman (Hellboy) and Justin Long, who is also no stranger to starring in thriller flicks. He is best known for his roles in Jeepers Creepers, Drag Me to Hell, Tusk, Yoga Hosers, Ghost Team, House of Darkness, and Barbarian. Perlman, on the other hand, is known for Drive, Cronos, Quest for Fire, Sergio and Sergei, The City of Lost Children, Nightmare Alley, The Bleeder, and The Last Winter, among a handful of others.
“I am thrilled to be making my follow-up to Arkansas with such an amazing cast. Stranglehold is a continuation of many themes I explored in Arkansas, very much a movie about where we are right now, and I cannot wait for people to see it,” Duke told Deadline.
