Avengers: Endgame saw the climactic finale of a decades-worth of storytelling in the MCU. In that ending, many fans saw the final moments of the very popular and divisive Thanos, played by Josh Brolin.

Avengers: Endgame follows up where the previous film left off and saw the Avengers face off against their biggest threat yet. Thanos was teased many years prior to him becoming a full-fledged main antagonist. This character was always the overarching threat that was in the background, while other villains such as Loki were just pawns. Thanos was brought to life via high-tech motion capture equipment and an incredible performance by Brolin.

Despite his demise, Thanos' legacy lives on even outside of Marvel, as the character has become a very popular icon amongst pop culture fans. Recently, Brolin has discussed the topic of whether he's open to returning to the character down the road. "[Marvel Studios has] their own trajectory that they're worrying about and if they want me to do it, I would do it I'm sure, but I don't know what they're thinking, " Brolin said during an interview on The Jess Cagle Show. «We've kind of bookended this thing after 10 years. I was so happy and I loved being involved in that so much because that wasn't the intention when I first got involved.»
