The Terminal List's hardened Navy SEAL James Reece may seem like a particularly out-of-the-box role for Chris Pratt, even after shining as Star-Lord in Guardians of the Galaxy, but it was one that author Jack Carr envisioned him taking from the start. From the actor's days on Parks and Recreation, Carr wrote his debut novel with not only Pratt in mind as the lead but with hopes of bringing director Antoine Fuqua (Training Day) on board as well.

Screen Rant spoke to Carr, Fuqua and DiGilio about how they went about adapting the novel into a series, and their hopes for expanding into a full-fledged franchise as they follow subsequent novels.
Screen Rant: Jack, this is a character people were fan casting since the release. When I'm reading something, I'm picturing somebody, but I read that you pictured a certain someone as James Reece the entire time. Can you tell me about that, and just what it means to have Chris Pratt in this role?
Jack Carr: I sure can. As a child of the 80s, it was just so natural for me to think about someone eventually portraying the character that I was writing in chapter 1, when I'm still in the Navy and no one has ever heard of me before.
