Amazon Studios released the first trailer for its upcoming comedic thriller Emergency, which looks to hit theaters later this month before landing exclusively on Amazon Prime Video. The Amazon film focuses on three college students who suddenly become trapped in a complicated situation.
The Carey Williams-directed Amazon Prime film premiered at the Sundance Film Festival on January 20th and was praised for its comedic moments and nightmarish realism. In the trailer, college student Kunle and his easygoing friend Sean are determined to embark on a «legendary tour,» which will take them to seven different frat parties in one night. The friends, however, suddenly find a passed-out white girl on their living floor, setting the proverbial stage.
It Takes Two Adaptation In The Works At Amazon Prime
Fearful of the misunderstanding that arises from calling the police, the two friends and their roommate decide to take the unknown girl away to a safe place before notifying the police of her condition. However, factors outside the friends' control come into play as the strange girl's friends track her phone to hunt down her location. The Emergency trailer provides some moments of excellent comedy, but beneath the laughter, the film will attempt to shed light on the fear of racial bias in police authority.
Emergency comes from writer K.D. Davila, who took home the Waldo Salt Screenwriting Award at this year's Sundance Film Festival for work on the upcoming Amazon Prime film.
