WARNING! Spoilers for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.
A new piece of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness fan art imagines what Daniel Craig could have looked like had he been cast as Mr. Fantastic. Marvel Studios projects like WandaVision, Loki, What If…?, and Spider-Man: No Way Home have gradually developed and utilized the MCU’s multiverse. Ever since it was announced the sequel to 2016’s Doctor Strange was titled Multiverse of Madness, fans expected Sam Raimi’s film would open the flood gates and feature a variety of variants. In addition to a couple of Doctor Strange variants and a much nicer Wanda Maximoff, Multiverse of Madness fulfilled this promise courtesy of the Illuminati.
In the film, Strange is brought before Earth-838’s greatest heroes, including Karl Mordo (Chiwetel Ejiofor), Captain Carter (Hayley Atwell), Maria Rambeau/Captain Marvel (Lashana Lynch), Black Bolt (Anson Mount), Professor Charles Xavier (Patrick Stewart), and Reed Richards/Mr. Fantastic (John Krasinski). Many of these cameos were filmed sporadically during Multiverse of Madness’ reshoots to adhere to conflicting schedules and time lost during the pandemic. Saturday, Deadline’s Justin Kroll shared a Twitter post in which he revealed 007 himself backed out of a major Illuminati cameo, saying "Krasinski wasn't the first choice" for that surprising role. This resulted in a wave of headlines stating Craig was originally supposed to play Mr. Fantastic to take the internet by storm.
