Happy New Year, everyone! My horrendous cold is finally starting to subside — I can’t believe I’ve been sick literally all year. In the meantime, let’s talk about plans for 2024 and how well I did on my resolutions for 2023. Last year was a whirlwind of good news, bad news and too many games. I led two GamesBeat conferences and met so many amazing people! It wasn’t always a good year, but it was never a boring one, not for one single minute. So what can I do — what can we do — to make 2024 better?
In 2023, my resolutions were to work my way through my 2022 backlog and to be a more social gamer. I definitely didn’t fulfill the former, because there just weren’t enough hours in the year considering how many new games came out. However, I guess I did become more social, since I’m talking more about my games on social media and being a bit less of a hermit. So that’s something.
In 2024, I’m going to make an effort to finish more of the games I play. In 2023, not being able to finish games was a matter of time and it being a luxury. But that still left me feeling a little unfulfilled. I didn’t need to play 85 games last year — I did it because of FOMO. My other resolution is continue exploring new ways to deliver gaming news to all of you. I started my TikTok daily gaming news series in 2023, and I would love to keep doing that in some capacity or other.
In personal news, I’ve already started my first new game of 2024: Carol Reed’s Dead Drop. I can’t promise to try very many games I didn’t get to in 2023. But I am going to do my level best to finish and talk more about each individual game I play.
