iPhone Pro Max to be killed soon? Based on the latest rumours from renowned Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, it is said that Apple may not have the iPhone 15 Pro Max next year. Instead, Apple could be calling its biggest iPhone variant the iPhone 15 Ultra. Why the Ultra? Apple loves to assign outrageous names to its products every once in a while and with most Android competitors owning the “Ultra” tag for their biggest phones, it only makes sense for Apple to adopt the same.
Moreover, Apple already uses the “Ultra” tag for some of its most popular gadgets, with the recent one being the Apple Watch Ultra – Apple's latest athlete focused smartwatch. Additionally, Apple also calls its most powerful chipset the M1 Ultra. The iPhone Pro Max is usually the most outrageous iPhone Apple makes and it only makes sense to call it the Ultra. Leaks so far on the iPhone 15 Pro promise some big upgrades. One of them is the new periscope lens arrangement for the telephoto camera, which is expected to improve the zoom performance. It is expected that Apple could offer up to 5X optical zoom with such a setup on the iPhone 15 Ultra and further extend its digital zoom capability. There is also a possibility of Apple matching Samsung's 10X optical zoom camera on the Galaxy S22 Ultra, although that seems far fetched.
Additionally, the iPhone 15 Pro is also expected to get a new 3nm chipset promising bigger upgrades in performance as well as power efficiency. This alone makes the iPhone 15 Pro Max deserve an Ultra tag.
Kuo has also suggested that the difference in features between the standard and Pro variants is going to be higher with the iPhone 15
