Apple Expected to Cut iPhone 14 Production in Favor of Pro Models
The latest data on iPhone sales suggests that iPhone 14 Pro demand is so strong, Apple is set to switch some iPhone 14 production lines over to the Pro models with immediate effect.
As the pre-order stats predicted, the iPhone 14 Pro models are proving to be much more popular than the iPhone 14 and 14 Plus, which are largely being ignored. Now, well-known analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has tweeted(Opens in a new window) he believes Apple is already changing its orders to compensate based on the latest survey data.
Hon Hai (a.k.a Foxconn) has apparently already been asked to switch production lines from iPhone 14 over to iPhone 14 Pro. By doing so, it's thought Apple will have 10% more stock of the Pro models to sell in the fourth quarter—just in time to meet the increased demand of the holiday season. At the time of writing, both the iPhone 14 Pro and 14 Pro Max(Opens in a new window) had estimated delivery times of late October to early November.
Of course, increasing output relies on all component suppliers being able to cope with their orders increasing, something which Kuo believes Apple is in the process of requesting. A lot will depend on where those components are being produced and if China imposes anymore strict lockdowns as part of its zero-Covid policy.
