The latest iOS 16.4 update brings a plethora of features, but one addition that we missed reporting on was now compatible Apple devices can be connected to the PS5 DualSense Edge Wireless Controller. The $199 gaming controller was announced back in October of last year, but it was only officially released in January, and now, compatible Apple devices can connect to it.
To remind you, iOS 16.4 is supported by Apple devices all the way back to the iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus, and iPhone X, which feature the A11 Bionic SoC. Despite being several years old, these three models, and the ones that follow, tout sufficient CPU and GPU punch that you can connect the DualSense Edge Wireless Controller and begin gaming on them comfortably. One of the biggest highlights of the PS5 controller is its ability to provide immense customization.
The gaming accessory provides this by allowing owners to swap out standard caps with a high dome or low dome options to deliver that extra level of comfort when gaming. Also, Sony has added new buttons at the back of the DualSense Edge Wireless Controller, along with updated joysticks and trigger buttons for an improved feel. If you purchase it right now, the PS5 gaming controller comes with a braided USB-C cable, connector housing, and a large carrying case.
Looking at how the iPhone 15 series is said to transition to USB-C, individuals who are interested in picking up the DualSense Edge Wireless Controller will not require two different cables for charging both devices. If you have yet to download iOS 16.4 on a compatible iPhone, you can hop on over to Settings > General > Software Update. The update will be present in front of you, after which you can tap on Download and Install, and you are done.
