Apple has released a global update for all iPhones running on iOS 15. The iOS 15.2.1 is a minor update that primarily fixes a malicious bug around HomeKit that was causing denial of service in some devices. The bug was reported earlier this month by security researcher Trevor Spiniolas. Apple has credited Spiniolas in its security document while highlighting the vulnerabilities. A similar update has been released for all supported Apple iPads called iPadOS 15.2.1.
The update comes with a very short changelog, which is unusual as the update itself is 970MB large. Although the size of the file may vary depending on the device. Apart from the HomeKit bug, the update also fixes bugs in Apple’s messages app and Apple CarPlay.
Apple’s latest software updates iOS 15.2.1 for iPhones and iPadOS 15.2.1 for iPads appear with the following changelog:
Messages may not load photos sent using an iCloud Link
Third-party CarPlay apps may not respond to input
