The iPhone 14 is going to be a major upgrade from this year’s iPhone 13 series and so far, the leaks are pointing out to some promising changes. In the midst of several information on the iPhone 14 Pro, a new tip now talks about the standard iPhone 14 models. And, it turns out that the iPhone 14 models could blur the gap between the Pro and non-Pro models this year, similar to the iPhone 12 series.
Analyst Jeff Pu of Haitong International Securities says in his research note that the entire iPhone 14 range this year will feature Apple’s 120Hz ProMotion display. Hence, the faster refresh rate display will no longer be restricted to the Pro variants this year. The iPhone 13 Pro models have a variable refresh rate system, wherein they can go down to 1Hz from 120Hz depending on the usage. On the iPhone 14, it could translate to an even better battery life for the non-Pro models.
On the other hand, Pu says that Apple will also upgrade the RAM capacity from 4GB on the current gen models to 6GB. That is same amount of RAM as the iPhone 13 Pro models. However, the Pro models will be restricted to 6GB RAM too, says the note.
Pu has also said that the iPhone 14 Pro models will get 256GB of storage for the base model whereas the standard models will start from 64GB. This is a bit weird since Apple moved to 128GB on the iPhone 13 as the base storage option. The Pro variants are also said to be using a Sony 48MP main camera sensor for better image quality.
It remains to be seen how many of these predicted upgrades make it to the iPhone 14 series. The biggest change in this year’s lineup is expected to be the end of the Mini iPhone lineup. The iPhone 13 Mini is apparently not selling well (also the case with the iPhone 12 Mini), and
