Intellivision CEO Tommy Talarico Resigns

When hearing news about Intellivision, you may be expecting to hear about their unreleased console, the Amico. Or you just may be shocked to hear that Intellivision is still a thing. Unfortunately, there's still no word on the Amico's release date. All we have for you is the news that the company's CEO is stepping down, which is likely a result of their console's failure to launch.

Tommy Tallarico - who you may know as the music composer for games like Aladdin and Cool Spot, and the former co-host of The Electric Playground - is no longer the CEO of Intellivision. He will remain with the company as its president, while the CEO position will now be filled by former chief revenue officer, Phil Adam.

While speaking with IGN, Adam explained the reasoning behind this corporate changing of the guard by stating, "As a business closing in on the last phase before launch, Tommy felt it important to provide focused roles, so he can continue to do the things he loves the most." He further went on to say that Intellivision "will be working hand in hand to bring Amico to the market." So this could mean that the beleaguered console may finally be getting a launch date very soon.

Intellivision was once one of the biggest names in gaming during the 1980s. However, like many old-school game developers, they soon became another footnote in video game history. The brand made a surprising comeback in 2018 when it announced the arrival of a new console, the Amico. It was touted as being a family-friendly gaming system with all its games being rated "E For Everyone." Since that announcement, the Amico has hit several setbacks and still hasn't made it to store shelves.
