Earlier this year, Instagram stepped into subscription services while supporting LIVE videos and stories only available to paid clients. Also, exclusive badge was made available next to the name of the subscribers, so, whenever they interact with posts, the badge will be shown to the creators. However, this was restricted to only a few content creators. But now, the head of Instagram Adam Mosseri has announced the expansion of the subscription feature on Instagram. It is being looked at as a great way to generate a predictable income for the creators. He took to Twitter to announce a new feature coming to Instagram creators.
"Subscriptions are a great way for creators to have a predictable income & for fans to get exclusive content from creators that they love," Adam Mosseri tweeted. This will allow Instagram creators to sign up for the Subscribers program where they can charge a monthly subscription fee to make the exclusive content through the Instagram app. He also posted a video along with a tweet, where he explained that subscribers will be able to host exclusive chats where they can interact with their followers. However, only up to 30 subscribers can be in a Subscriber chat and the chats will be available only for 24 hours to the subscribers.
"This is just one step on a much longer path to provide creators everywhere with a whole range of tools to be able to make a living online," the head of Instagram mentioned in the video. Additionally, this subscription feature will also allow the creators to have a “Subscriber home” tab on their profiles, which will enable their followers to see exclusives or sign up to be a Subscriber to have all the content under a single tab.
