Indie sandbox MMO Ethyrial: Echoes of Yore has been heading towards launch, and now an official date has been locked down. Players can dive into the sandbox on May 1st as it launches on PC via Steam.
Ethyrial: Echoes of Yore is a sandbox MMO inspired by the old-school design of the genre. Described by developer Gellyberry Studios, it's a «hardcore» title for players who are not «afraid of risk.» As such, Ethyrial promises a challenge, and the harder the challenge, the greater the reward in the end, in theory.
Via the Steam listing:
"Ethyrial: Echoes of Yore is a hardcore old-school MMORPG for players not afraid of challenge, risk, and adventure. Band together with fellow players and brave the dangers of the world of Irumesa, bring dark secrets to light, and experience a living MMO environment brought to life entirely by players! But be wary — Irumesa is full of danger around every turn. Power-hungry nobles deposed the imperial council and now fight among themselves for power. Vicious beasts lurk in the dark corners of the world. Whispers of an insurrection threaten to unleash a brutal civil war across the known world, giving sinister cults a chance to implement their terrifying designs for the world. In the middle there's you and your friends. Start your adventure in Edrivine, the crumbling capital of the world, and determine the fate of the world..."
To celebrate the announcement of the release date, the team put out a new trailer, showing the MMO in all its low-poly glory. The MMO promises what it calls «one-of-a-kind loot,» where certain items are limited in quantity. This could facilitate some of the PvP in the MMO, as the only way to get this item is to somehow get it from another player — trading, or otherwise.
