Smartphone explosions are a rare but dangerous occurrence that can result in an irreparable traumatic experience, but nothing could have prepared people close to an eight-year-old who received fatal injuries after a handset caught fire while she was using it.
The incident occurred in Kerala’s Thiruvilvamala, where eight-year-old Adithyasree was busy using the smartphone at 10:30 PM on a Monday. 91mobiles reported no details if the device belonged to her guardian or someone else, but it has been stated that the smartphone exploded in her face, so it is likely that she sustained extreme injuries from the accident since children have the propensity to use items that are only a few inches away from their face.
Unfortunately, the official model name or company’s name are unknown at this time, though the police have registered a case, and an investigation is underway. No details were provided on which charging accessories were used to plug in the smartphone. However, topping up the battery with subpar-quality cables or chargers can often harm the handset’s battery. Then again, manufacturers can also take shortcuts by sourcing cheaper batteries to focus more on increasing their margins. If it is neither of the two factors, then the explosion may have to do with a third-party repair process that was not completed by a professional individual.
Sadly, no information is available to us at this time, so we cannot comment much on this incident. We will reiterate to parents and guardians to monitor children's smartphone usage and set a specific amount of ‘screen on’ time. Original owners
