Overwatch 2 may not have reworked every hero on the roster, but some characters have benefitted from the changes that were made to others. Widowmaker is one such hero, and a recent clip shows her thriving in the Overwatch 2 meta.
In Overwatch 2, shields have become a fair bit less common. Not only has Overwatch 2 reworked Orisa to remove her shield, but each team only has one Tank — meaning that, at most, Widowmaker will only have one Tank’s shield to get rid of. Whether it’s Reinhardt and Sigma’s walls or a Winston bubble, breaking these down should not be too difficult of a task. This is a huge deal, as it allows her to focus more on hitting low health characters since they will have far less protection from the Tanks on their team. Normally, 5v1 situations are completely inadvisable in Overwatch. If a character can get back to their team and group up, they should, and if not, they should jump off the map in order to regroup without feeding the other team ultimate charge. However, the Widowmaker player in this Reddit clip took the risk of fighting a 1v5, and through pure skill, they managed to win, completely wiping out the opposition and moving the payload to the next checkpoint.
