Hyundai has announced an updated 2022 Ioniq 5 model lineup in Australia with additional features, a new naming convention, and reduced pricing for the entry-level trim. The Ioniq 5 is one of the trendiest vehicles in its segment and comes with a plethora of features, including Level 2 autonomous driving capabilities. It also comes with a 350 kW charger that the company claims can charge the car from 10 percent to 80 percent in just 18 minutes. Hyundai claims that the vehicle needs to be charged for just five minutes to get 100 km of range, taking away one of the main pain points cited by American consumers in a recent survey for their resistance to buying electric cars.
The Ioniq 5 comes with several exterior color options and interior trims, letting buyers customize it the way they want. This is in direct contrast to how other automakers like Tesla are reducing customization options to save time and improve their profit margins. However, despite its extensive feature list, the Hyundai Ioniq 5 does not come with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. While wired CarPlay and Android Auto are supported, owners will have to use third-party dongles to enable wireless connectivity. That said, Hyundai offers OTA updates for the Ioniq 5, so the company could roll out an update to enable the feature in the future.
