The insect enemies known as Terminids you fight on multiple worlds in have dangerous variants, including the hulking Charger, whose armor makes it hard to beat. These big bugs can be lethal to members of your brave squad if you don't find a way to take them down. By exploiting a weakness in a Charger's defenses, you should be able to exterminate this creature every time.
Chargers are only one of eight different types of Terminids you could encounter during various missions. This kind of insect is similar to Automaton Hulks in , who are also large and bulky foes with extraordinary protection from your weapons. Chargers are common opponents when you pursue objectives on higher difficulties or as specific targets for Points of Interest and other optional goals.
The best strategy to defeat a Charger in is to aim for the weak point on its back or use armor-piercing weapons and Stratagems to break its protective carapace. Anti-tank weapons have a chance to break off the bug's armored shell when you target its legs or other limbs. Explosive tools like the Railgun can break a Charger's defenses so that other guns do normal damage to the creature.
Stratagems that deal explosive damage like the Eagle Cluster Bomb are great against Chargers since they have a chance to strip away the Terminid's defensive armor.
However, Chargers have a single vulnerable spot on their backs that glows green in the sections between their armor. Distracting this enemy with Turrets will give you a perfect opportunity to open fire on this small weak point and deal huge damage to the Terminid. Those playing with friends in the co-op multiplayer of can volunteer to be a distraction for the Charger while others attack.
