Activision has said it’s committed to supporting Call of Duty Mobile with new content on a seasonal basis as Warzone Mobile’s release nears.
The company’s pledge to continue updating the game was made as it announced plans to remove some content which will be made available to players in Warzone Mobile at launch on March 21.
“We wanted to let you know that Shoot House and Alcatraz will soon be leaving Call of Duty: Mobile,” reads a message on the game’s official X account. “This is not permanent, both will be returning later this year, rotating in and out each season like other playlists in the game.
“Call of Duty: Mobile will continue to get new content every season and there are no plans to change the breadth of content we bring to COD:M players. Stay tuned for more info on exciting new content we have coming this year!”
Warzone Mobile will feature battle royale and multiplayer game modes including Team Deathmatch, Domination, Kill Confirmed and Search & Destroy.
Multiplayer maps will include Shipment, Scrapyard and Shoot House, the latter of which will soon be leaving Call of Duty Mobile, temporarily at least.
Its flagship 120-player battle royale mode plays out on Warzone’s classic Verdansk map, while Rebirth Island supports 48 players and Resurgence rules, which allow players to respawn as long as one of their teammates is still alive.
Rebirth Island is a remake of Alcatraz from Call of Duty: Black Ops 4‘s Blackout battle royale.
Developed by Tencent’s Timi studio, the free-to-play Call of Duty: Mobile was released in October 2019 and had topped 650 million downloads as of May 2022, according to Activision.
The company said at the time that Call of Duty: Mobile had enjoyed a record year in 2021, with consumer spending “well above” $1 billion, following a surge in downloads coinciding with its release in China.
However, prior to completing its acquisition of Activision, Microsoft said it expected Call of Duty Mobile to be “phased out over time” for Warzone Mobile.
