The latest Disney classic to get the live-action treatment is Snow White, starring Rachel Zegler, and the first look at her costume has been released – but how does it compare to that of Disney’s animated classic? One trend that continues to gain force in the film industry is live-action versions of animated movies, and Disney has taken full advantage of it by bringing some of its animated classics to life, though not always successfully. After the success of Cruella, Disney is focusing again on its princesses with the live-action version of the movie that started it all: Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.
Based on the fairytale by the Brothers Grimm, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs was released in 1937 and was not only the first Disney animated movie but also the first full-length traditionally animated feature film, so it holds an important place in film history. Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs is now a classic of not only Disney but cinema in general and is the most famous adaptation of the Brothers Grimm's tale. Now, after many live-action versions of the original tale from different studios, Disney is joining the list with a live-action adaptation of its animated version, with Marc Webb serving as director, Greta Gerwig and Erin Cressida Wilson in charge of the screenplay, Gal Gadot playing the Evil Queen, and Rachel Zegler as the title character.
