The days when fans of chunky-sprited classic arcade fighters were poorly served on the Play Store are well and truly over. Mainly thanks to the ACA NeoGeo library and the fact that it keeps releasing polished up versions of esoteric brawlers from the 90’s.
This week’s addition to said library is Art of Fighting 3. This one first came out in 1996, which is quite a long time ago. Or not very long ago at all on a cosmic scale, where human concepts of time are essentially meaningless. So, yeah.
The game is sort of a side-story to the other AoF games, which act as a prequel to the Fatal Fury games, if you’re at all interested in the over-arching narrative of SNK’s punch-kickers. But it also introduced some interesting new mechanics to the series.
Chief among them is the Ultimate KO system, which we assume lets you knock people out even more than you usually would. There’s also the usual raft of ACA NeoGeo tweaks and pokes to make the whole thing play better on modern devices.
If you’d like to give Art of Fighting 3 a go, you can click here to download it from the Play Store. It’s a premium game and it’ll set you back $3.99 to give it a go. Sick.
