Netflix Offers Behind-The-Scenes Look At Live-Action One Piece Set
Netflix’s Geeked Week got underway today with plenty of announcements for The Sandman, Umbrella Academy Season 3, and 19th-century mystery-horror series Dark. It also brought a few sneak peaks at the upcoming One Piece live-action series, including a look at the wooden sailing ships being constructed down in South Africa.
Showrunners Matt Owens and Steven Maeda were joined by Luffy (played by Iñaki Godoy) on what appeared to be the deck of The Going Merry, one of three ships confirmed to be constructed for One Piece. The others are the Miss Love Duck and the Baratie, which will apparently play an important role in the show.

"Because of the level of detail and attention that goes into all of these sets, they take a good amount of time," explained Owens in Netflix’s teaser trailer. "Right now we're building Arlong's map room. It's already been a couple of weeks, but it's a big build because it's a really important location. A lot of drama goes down in there. A lot of action goes down in there. So we have to get it just right."
As you can see in the teaser, the sets are authentic to the source material by being made almost entirely out of woof. None of the sets seem to be true sailing vessels, but they certainly look the part.
"I love all the ships, but Baratie is massive," added Maeda. "It is iconic. It is surrounded by floating docks along with a bar inside the fish mouth, which is going to be Zoro's favorite spot in those episodes."
In addition to our first look at production, Netflix also confirmed six new characters have been cast for One Piece. The villainous Klahadore will be played by Alexander Maniatis, while Dracule "Hawk Eyes" Mihawk, also
