The review scores for are finally in following the end of the embargo. is the newest installment in developer Capcom’s popular monster-hunting series, preceded by titles such as (2021) and (2018). The upcoming entry is set in a new map area called The Forbidden Lands, composed of various biomes that extend from harsh plains to a blooming jungle, and from scorching caverns to freezing chambers. The map for is expected to reflect the number of different creatures that players will be able to face.
Capcom has already revealed several of the monsters that will pose threats to humanity in the game, such as the flagship monster Arkveld, the White Wraith, and Rey Dau, an electrifying new flying wyvern. A mysterious creature called Nu Udra or The Black Flame has also been revealed, and it resembles an octopus. Aside from new additions, as always, older monsters from the franchise are also returning. Among the debuting monsters in , players are confirmed to see the return of Rathian, Gravios, Nerscylla, Gore Magala, and more – Mizutsune will be added in a Spring update, too.
With the end of the embargo and the publication of the reviews for, the new title can now be compared to some of its predecessors, mainly and, both of which follow the same action-led monster-hunter gameplay style and character progression. Titles like (2021), which is a spin-off turn-based RPG, were left out of the comparison with. At the time of writing, the critic score for on Metacritic stands at 89 (out of 100), with 54 reviews.
