Wicked’s Ariana Grande & Cynthia Erivo To Open 2025 Oscars, More Performers Set
Wicked stars Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo have been tapped to perform at the upcoming 2025 Oscars as part of the ceremony’s opening act. For their acclaimed performances in the 2024 musical drama, Grande and Erivo are currently nominated for Best Supporting Actress and Best Actress, respectively.
In addition, it has been confirmed that K-Pop superstar Lisa of Blackpink, Doja Cat, Queen Latifah, and Raye are also going to perform at the 97th Academy Awards, which will take place this March 2 at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, Los Angeles. While it is being rumored that Grande and Erivo’s performance may involved a Wicked medley, specific details about Lisa of Blackpink, Doja Cat, Queen Latifah, and Raye’s planned performances are still being kept under wraps.
The 2025 Academy Awards will be hosted by Conan O’Brien, with Nick Offerman serving as the announcer. The ceremony will be broadcast exclusively on ABC, and is set to stream on Hulu. Leading the categories with 13 nominations is the acclaimed musical crime drama Emilia Pérez, including Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Actress. Meanwhile, Warner Bros.’ Wicked and A24’s The Brutalist both received 10 nominations each. Like Emilia Pérez, Wicked and The Brutalist are also nominated for Best Picture, alongside Anora, A Complete Unknown, Conclave, Dune: Part Two, I’m Still Here, Nickel Boys, and The Substance.
The list of presenters will include last year’s winners Cillian Murphy (Oppenheimer), Emma Stone (Poor Things), Robert Downey Jr. (Oppenheimer) and Da’Vine Joy Randolph (The Holdovers). Halle Berry, Sterling K. Brown, Penélope Cruz, Willem Dafoe, Elle Fanning, Whoopi Goldberg, Selena Gomez, Goldie Hawn, Scarlett Johansson, John Lithgow, Connie Nielsen, Amy Poehler, June Squibb, Ben Stiller, Oprah Winfrey, Joe Alwyn, Ana de Armas, Lily-Rose Depp, and Bowen Yang are also going to be presenters.
