Update: We promised we’d get confirmation, and now we have the official details on a PS5 drum controller for Taiko no Tatsujin: Rhythm Festival. Scheduled to be released by Hori alongside the game, the wired peripheral will also work on PS4 and Windows PC.
The official blurb reads: “Based on the popular arcade version, the drum controller is equipped with a pressure sensitive pad covering the face and rim of the drum that accurately detects the location of each of your taps. Built with convenient onboard buttons to navigate through the menu and select songs, or simply tap the rim and face of the drum with the included drumsticks to navigate in game. The stand provides a stable playing experience and includes storage space for the Taiko drumsticks.”
Pre-orders will be available at retailers like Amazon soon, so keep an eye out if you want the authentic Taiko no Tatsujin: Rhythm Festival experience.
Original Article: Taiko no Tatsujin: Rhythm Festival – the latest version of Bandai Namco’s arcade beat-‘em-up [Not that kind of beat-‘em-up – Ed] – is coming to PS5 from 7th November, following an extended period of Nintendo Switch exclusivity. This version of the game will support 120fps gameplay on Sony’s system, assuming you have a compatible television. There’ll also be “platform exclusive collaboration songs”, but we’re still awaiting confirmation on what those include.
The game itself features over 70 songs across a variety of genres, including pop, anime, and more. You can also upgrade the selection of music to way over 700 songs if you subscribe to the Taiko Music Pass. And if you pre-order you’ll get five extra songs from Bandai Namco’s history, including Eat ‘Em Up from Ridge Racer Type 4 and The Arrow Was Shot from Tales of the Abyss.
