Executive Producer and Vice President for WoW, Holly Longdale, posted on X (formerly Twitter) about lessons learned from players waiting for Patch 10.2.6.
Blizzard revealed one month ago that Patch 10.2.6 would not have a PTR and is coming in March.
The idea that Patch 10.2.6 would not include a PTR excited many players as this is the first Patch that wouldn't be known ahead of time in recent years. However, with no PTR, this has lead to an absence of information and hype for the Patch with many players claiming they even forgot about it.
Holly responded with the following:
The «Pirate Flag» was first revealed as part of the 2024 Roadmap on December 19th, 2023. Blizzard employees periodically teased the Patch with Pirate Flag emojis on Twitter up until the first week of February (Example) and since then it's been rather silent on Patch 10.2.6 and War Within which has frustrated players.
Personally, I think there's a happy medium between no PTR and radio silence which would be enough to keep the community engaged and hyped, while not giving away everything. What do you think?
