According to recent comments from Hogwarts Legacy developer Avalanche Software, it seems like the game may feature some older members of the Weasley family. This is just one piece of the extremely large Hogwarts Legacy puzzle, one that has become increasingly more clear since the game was heavily featured in last week's PlayStation State of Play event.
There's plenty to dig into when it comes to Hogwarts Legacy, but perhaps one of the most interesting parts of the game is its setting. As the name implies, it will be taking place primarily at and around Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, but roughly 100 years before the events of the iconic Harry Potter franchise. While this means that the story of the game will likely be far removed from that of Harry Potter and Fantastic Beasts, it also means that very few recognizable characters will appear. However, the Wizarding World of Great Britain is shown to be rather insular in the Harry Potter stories, which indicates that many characters could be distant relatives of ones that fans know and love. Hogwarts Legacy will feature some familiar characters, but the overwhelming majority of names will be ones that haven't appeared in other canonical pieces of media.

Members of the Weasley family that Harry Potter fans will recognize might not show up in Hogwarts Legacy, but that doesn't mean that their ancestors won't. Game developer Chandler Wood made several illuminating comments about the upcoming RPG on the PlayStation Blog, but one might stick in the mind more than others, as it confirms that Weasley ancestors will meet with players during their journey.
