The primary plot of Red Dead Redemption 2 focused on a new character named Arthur Morgan and his activities with the Van der Linde Gang. It was eventually revealed that Red Dead Redemption 2 would feature John Marston and, as the game went on, the character became more involved in the story's central plot. The epilogue section of the game allowed the player to control John Marston and reveals how he got his farm in Red Dead Redemption in excruciating detail.

In the epilogue section, the player discovers what became of Red Dead Redemption 2's surviving companions who were not featured in the first game. One of the most famous parts of the epilogue section of Red Dead Redemption 2 is when John builds his house with the aid of Charles Smith and Uncle. A new clip from the scene, however, completely ruins it as a cougar constantly attacks John as he tries to build the house. The video comes from the YouTube channel Brother Foller, and it's not entirely clear if the attack was caused by a glitch or a mod.
