Helldivers 2 will just not stop selling, apparently. The co-op focused shooter is close to being a month old, and by this point, most games have seen their sales numbers fall off a cliff — but not Helldivers 2. In what is an extremely rare occurrence, sales figures have continued to rise in the US.
«Helldivers 2 US sales went up yet again during its third week in market. An honest-to-goodness inverse decay curve so far,» says ever-informative Circana analyst Mat Piscatella.
From our perspective, Helldivers 2 has benefitted massively from positive word of mouth. It's the only real explanation for what's going on here, as the game didn't have a huge amount of hype behind it upon release (although reports state that launch sales were still strong, despite the absence of a full-scale marketing campaign).

I've gotten at least a half dozen to buy that otherwise would have never even considered it lol. Games just a blast. Between that and Rebirth I could not play anything else this year and not feel like I missed anything either. Sony obviously knew nothing from 1st parties would finish baking this year and made smart publishing/contract decisions to get bangers on the system.
In the UK it spent the whole weekend ahead of FF7 Rebirth on the PSN “Top 10 games in your country”. On PS time tracker which has a sample of about 10k it had roughly twice as many players as FF7. This data doesn’t account for FF’s popularity in Japan but thats kinda insane that it beat FF7 Rebirth in its opening weekend in the west.
