Since its release back in December of last year, Halo Infinite has enjoyed a massive amount of success, but has also seen its fair share of controversy. Fans have criticized certain aspects of Halo Infinite well before the game released, with varying degrees of validity. Now, the most recent bout of controversy has come in the form of free weapon skins that bear a strong resemblance to similar skins in the previous Halo installment.
The Halo community is as tight-knit as it is passionate about the subject matter. Following the server shut down for Halo 3, many fans turned up to say their final goodbyes to the Xbox 360 version of the game. However, in the matter of Halo Infinite, there have been some speed bumps in terms of fan reception. Such as the recent release of new weapon skins for Halo Infinite that has Halo 5 fans upset.
Halo Infinite Developers Address Desync Issues
Over on Twitter, a user named Mint Blitz noticed that the free weapon skins that players can unlock for free by watching the Halo Championship Series are nearly identical to the weapon skins that unlock after reaching rank 152 in Halo 5. Rank 152 is the maximum rank that Halo 5 players can achieve, which led to many Halo 5 players enraged.
Mint Blitz, who is also a Halo based content creator, discussed how difficult it is to achieve rank 152 in Halo 5. Many longtime Halo 5 players could easily see this as disrespectful, considering that those weapons skins represent the thousands of hours it takes to unlock the skins are wasted if regular or casual fans of the series can just watch a three-hour stream and immediately unlock them.
In any case, plenty of fans likely won't consider this bit of drama to be on the same level as Halo Infinite's slow battle pass
