At CES 2024, Nvidia has shared a new gameplay trailer for its upcoming RTX remaster Half-Life 2 RTX.
Nvidia announced Half-Life 2 RTX at Gamescom last year, where it was confirmed that members of the Half-Life 2 community were working together to provide an RTX remaster of Valve's critically acclaimed first-person shooter.
Half-Life 2 RTX will use Nvidia's tech, including hardware-focused ray tracing, Nvidia Reflex, RTX IO, and the third generation of DLSS. This remaster was made possible thanks to RTX Remix, a modding toolkit Nvidia announced in 2022 and is releasing in beta later this month.
Half-Life 2 RTX is the third game to take advantage of RTX Remix with the previous two projects, including Portal RTX and Portal: Prelude RTX.
In our review of Half-Life 2, we said that the game "sets the standard in all areas, especially the use of physics as a gameplay tool instead of merely a visual treat for gamers."
