Guild Wars 2 has an update on World vs. World restructuring changes, and three new weapon proficiency previews: Short Bow Engineer, Pistols Guardian, and Pistol Elementalist.
On the World vs. World restructuring work, ArenaNet is adjusting priorities to get a live 24/7 build up first, ASAP, instead of only waiting for the complete, much lengthier process. To make this possible, features like team transfers and an alliance system have been pushed back. The restructuring system will still get more work, and they are planning a world restructuring beta for Q1 2024.
If things go as planned, the beta will help them fix some bugs, resolve a few lingering visual issues, UI stuff, and the capacity and to make sure their new attempt at balance systems and matches works the way it should. Then, the 24/7 system will be here.
Also coming in early 2024 are new weapon proficiencies. The latest round of previews covers the Engineer with a short bow, dual pistols as an option for the Guardian, and a single pistol for the Elementalist.
For the Guardian, dual pistols will help them specialize in dealing out condition damage, inflict bleed and burn on some enemies, in addition to a piercing autoattack, Through the Heart, That hits up to five targets. Many of the other skills also let you attack multiple enemies. Symbol of Ignition lets you apply a symbol on the ground that inflicts burning when enemies are within it.
The Engineer can learn to use the short bow, for a new support option. Engineers have figured out how to infuse arrows with magic, offering these essence-infused arrows as ways to help allies and hurt enemies.
