Pantheon: Rise of the Fallen has recently announced the postponement of its Pre-Alpha test session for Alpha pledges. This decision comes amidst major unresolved issues related to their Persist system, which is crucial for the game's performance under increased server load.
Pantheon has been embroiled in a series of setbacks lately. Most recently, the Pre-Alpha the team at Visionary Realms had planned has been postponed due to issues that could not be resolved related to the Persist system. The influx of new testers expected for today's session further complicated the situation, leading to the postponement. This decision, although difficult, particularly in light of the enthusiastic response from Alpha pledges, was necessary to ensure a stable testing environment for those that would actually be able to join in. Regular Pre-Alpha testing was stated to continue with current testers, following a character wipe, while the allowance of Alpha pledge testers joining the fray was “above and beyond” what the team expected.
This development follows a tumultuous period for Pantheon, marked by significant community pushback against a previously announced 247 extraction mode. This mode, initially intended to speed up development and potentially attract more investment, was met with resistance from the community. Consequently, Visionary Realms decided to revert to focusing on the MMO's core development and scrapped the 247 extraction mode. Creative director Chris «Joppa» Perkins clarified in a Discord Q&A that the studio was not out of money, but the extraction mode was considered as one of the ways to accelerate development and attract investment.
