Two Rockstar developers who have spent considerable time on Grand Theft AutoOnline give fans some hints as to what they can expect to see come to the game in the future. Grand Theft Auto Online has continuously gotten updates over the past nine years which have helped keep millions of players logging on regularly to this day.
Grand Theft Auto Online launched in October 2013 as the online component of the groundbreaking Grand Theft Auto V. As a live service title, its consistent free content updates have helped keep the game alive and well with tons of players still active on the service. This long-term support ranges from large-scale updates like Los Santos Drug Wars to the recent update 1.66 for Grand Theft Auto Online which brought optimization and added security for players.

In a recent interview, Rockstar North design director Scott Butchard reflected on the longevity that GTA Online has experienced thus far and the journey of supporting the game for nearly a decade. In regard to future content, he referenced the GTA Online alien war event that was spearheaded by fans donning either green or purple alien suits and engaging in battle against each other. Butchard cited this and similar fan-led events as «something we wanted to present as a design choice.” He specifically mentioned this form of event as something that was in mind when developing the Halloween event for this year, adding that he „can’t wait to see how players react to it.“
When it came to further details as to what players can expect apart from the Halloween event, Butchard had less to say. It can be inferred that Rockstar is hesitant to reveal too much new information given the Grand Theft Auto 6
