There are a lot of Easter eggs to discover in Grand Theft Auto 3, and many of them reference mafia movies or specific gangsters from films. Claude's story takes him around Liberty City as he crosses paths with the area's most powerful mobsters.
Claude was left for dead after the events of GTA: San Andreas by his girlfriend, Catalina. She betrayed him during a bank heist. Although Catalina shoots Claude, he survives and is arrested for the crime. However, he's able to escape with 8-Ball after their convoy is attacked by the Cartel. From there, Claude is thrust into the crime world in Liberty City, and he comes across a variety of mobsters, some of whom are based on mafia movie characters.

The mafia movie references in Grand Theft Auto 3 range from movie posters to music and character parodies. Since Liberty City is based on New York City, there are plenty of opportunities to include mobster references and movie Easter eggs. In Liberty City's Red Light District, there's a poster for a movie called, «Badfellas,» and it references the 1990 film, Goodfellas.
