Some fans consider Gotham Knights to be one of the most anticipated games of this year. A new co-op game from WB Games Montreal, it brings the most notable members of the Bat-Family, including Robin, Batgirl, Red, and Nightwing to consoles and PC. Following the studio's 2013 Batman: Arkham Origins, Gotham Knights takes similar cues from it, being a fully explorable open-world game set in Gotham City. While not connected to Rocksteady's Arkhamverse, players are tasked with fending off villains from Batman's rogue's gallery after the untimely death of Bruce Wayne.
The game was first revealed in 2020 at the DC Fandome event, with an initial release year of 2021. As soon as that year rolled around, however, it was announced that the gamewould be delayed to 2022, alongside Avalanche's upcoming game Hogwarts Legacy. While Gotham Knights is currently on-track to release this year, no specific window has been given as to when players can take up the cowl. However, details of an unannounced playtest for the game have been discovered that indicate it could be released sooner rather than later.
