Boxed copies of Gotham Knights have been spotted at retailers, suggesting that WB Montreal’s upcoming superhero action title could be launching sometime in the next couple of weeks. Gotham Knights was announced during 2020’s inaugural DC FanDome livestream and promises to serve as a spiritual successor to Rocksteady’s critically acclaimed Batman: Arkham series. The premise of Gotham Knights is quite similar to how that series ended, with Bruce Wayne's apparent death in an explosion at Wayne Manor. With Gotham's former protector now gone, it falls to Batgirl, Nightwing, Red Hood, and Robin to defend the troubled city from the sinister secret society known as Gotham Knight's Court Of Owls.
Details about Gotham Knights have been leaking out piecemeal in the couple of years since its initial announcement, with the most recent information coming from a trailer and behind-the-scenes video shown off at last year’s DC FanDome. So far, Gotham Knights will retain the Arkham series’ stealth and combat gameplay (incidentally, developer WB Montreal previously worked on the 2013 prequel Batman: Arkham Origins), and previous trailers and leaks have revealed that classic villains like Mr. Freeze and the Penguin will make appearances alongside the Court Of Owls. Gotham Knights will also feature two-player co-op that will allow fans to team up with their friends and take on the criminals of Gotham together, as well as ridable vehicles like Red Hood and Nightwing's motorcycles in Gotham Knights.
