Gotham Knights at last has a release date. The game that was featured in my most anticipated games of next year list (twice!) will be available on October 25. It feels appropriate to come out just before Halloween, considering the theme of the game. Actually, it might be more appropriate if the game adapted The Long Halloween, but Batman fans can’t be beggars.
If you didn’t catch the hint, Gotham Knights was originally scheduled for a release date in 2021. The co-op action game featuring the famous Bat-kids was revealed nearly two years ago, exciting many of us who loved the hell out of Rocksteady’s Batman: Arkham series. However, the developer isn’t involved in this latest Bat-scepade. That honor goes to Warner Bros. Montreal, which is approaching the Gothic city at a different angle.
Gotham Knights appears more action-packed, allowing for two-player co-op. You play as one of the four Batman wards: Red Hood, Nightwing, Batgirl, or Robin. It features drop-in/drop-out co-op, and neither player specifically needs to be in the same area. In an interview hosted by GamesRadar, Fleur Marty, senior producer, said “you can be in two completely different parts of the city if you wanted and join at some point to take on a specific mission.” I like the sound of that.
