A God of War: Ragnarök developer has assured fans that the eagerly-awaited sequel is still coming to PlayStation consoles this year. Following God of War: Ragnarok's delay out of 2021, neither Santa Monica Studio nor Sony Interactive Entertainment has so much as offered a hint about when in 2022 the title will arrive. To the delight of many, PlayStation's September 2021 games showcase ended with a first look at gameplay, yet the trailer didn't even feature a line of text about the potential release window.
It should come as no surprise, then, that some fans remain convinced the new God of War entry will not launch until 2023 at the earliest. The hope was that Santa Monica Studio would clear the air yesterday, April 20, since it marked the fourth anniversary of God of War 2018's release. While a message from franchise veteran Cory Barlog celebrated the occasion, he only noted that GoW: Ragnarok still isn't ready for primetime. When such a day will finally come presently remains a mystery.

In response to a tweet from God of War: Ragnarok Animation Director Bruno Velazquez, one fan asked the developer to confirm whether or not the sequel remained on track for a 2022 rollout. Velazquez replied not too long thereafter, simply telling followers that "Ragnorok [sic] is coming this year." It's worth noting, of course, that Santa Monica Studio itself has yet to reaffirm its launch plans for the latest Kratos-starring adventure. See the Twitter exchange in the post linked below:
