The demo for One More Level and 505 Games’ first-person slasher, Ghostrunner 2, is now available. However, that’s not the exciting bit about it. Instead, this particular shindig is a big deal because the demo features one of the game’s big new gameplay hooks: a driveable motorcycle. While trailers have shown off this feature, it wasn’t necessarily a given that it’d be available for players to check out in the demo. Especially since the game is due to launch soon, on October 26.
Ghostrunner 2‘s vehicular combat is already a bit of a point of contention in the community, however. On the game’s subreddit, players have highlighted a wealth of bugs in the demo and a bit of indecisiveness as to whether One More Level did the right thing when it decided to include the bike. To that end, this demo may not jive all that well with all the fans of the original Ghostrunner.
The opinions on Ghostrunner 2‘s all-new bike are mixed so far, it would seem. While some players enjoy its speed and brutality, others are put off by their lack of control over the machine. If One More Level intended for the bike to be this game’s wow feature, it might not pan out on this merit alone.
The good news, though, is that the demo itself shows that Ghostrunner 2 is a true-to-form sequel. Players should expect an ability rebalance and a slightly modified movement system, with a greater focus on having a coherent narrative and, according to the devs, more freedom in creating a character build. All great news for those who just wanted more of Ghostrunner, of course. But the bike itself may end up being a bit of an acquired taste for the community in general.
Ghostrunner 2 will launch on October 26 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
