Ghost of Tsushima was one of the most popular games released in 2020, with the game being nominated for an immense amount of awards, as well as winning a fair amount of them. Today, the sequel, Ghost of Yotei, was showcased in the State of Play, which takes players to a brand new era of Japan. While Ghost of Tsushima took place during the first Mongol invasion of Japan, which took place in 1274, Ghost of Yotei is moving things along in time and taking players to 1603, the Sengoku period of Japan.
Ghost of Yotei will take place in the area surrounding Mount Yotei, which is located in modern-day Hokkaido, which was known as Ezo during the Sengoku period. Atsu is the protagonist of this game, and immediately, the gameplay looks very familiar in this new trailer. Players will get to enjoy features that were an essential part of Ghost of Tsushima, such as horseback riding and plenty of swordfights. While Atsu is exploring in the trailer, she has a Shamisen across her back, and there are plenty of features of a wolf, possibly her pet.
The game is shaping up to take players through grasslands, tundras and other dangers that players will have to try and navigate safely. Much like Tsushima, players will get to explore a new region of Japan and admire the beauty at their own pace.
For Sucker Punch, this is their first game that is built from the ground up for PlayStation 5, with huge improvements and features to the aesthetics and world-building, such as believable movement on wind on grass and vegetation, skyboxes filled with stars and auroras, as well as new mechanics, gameplay improvements and new weapons for players to utilize and experiment with.
