Ghost of Tsushima wowed the gaming world from its first marketing reveal to its highly successful launch. Sucker Punch promised a poignant tale, and while Samurai hold instant international appeal, the developers took a risk by choosing the Kamakura Period of Japanese history rather than the more well known Edo Period.

The risk paid off, with millions of copies sold and counting. Whether they were familiar with the tumultuous events of late 13th-century East Asia ultimately didn't matter — players fell in love with the heartfelt portrayal of protagonist Jin Sakai, not to mention the beautiful open world Jin traverses on his epic quest.
Open-world gaming was hardly revelatory when Ghost of Tsushima arrived on the scene in 2020, but the best examples of this popular genre are the ones that differentiate themselves from the pack in meaningful ways. Collecting masks, for example; it may sound like "just another trinket search" that so many open worlds have liberally copied from each other, but these masks have character to them. They're powerful symbols of Jin's era, and finding them all sheds further light on a well-developed setting.
All that is to say, collecting every mask in Ghost of Tsushima is fun. The game's art team clearly had a blast designing them, so let's leave no stone unturned in our mission to see them all.
