George Miller gives an update on the production of his Mad Max: Fury Road prequel, Furiosa. Originally appearing in 2015’s Fury Road, the character of Imperator Furiosa made an instant splash as a strong, level-headed action hero who took no prisoners. Played by Charlize Theron, Furiosa resonated with audiences and critics alike and became a franchise favorite character alongside Tom Hardy's Max Rockatansky.
During Mad Max: Fury Road, Miller’s writing process was extremely in-depth, and the filmmaker created full backstories for all of the characters. According to Miller, this then gave him enough material to write a prequel to Fury Road. In 2020,the Furiosa project was confirmed, and Anya-Taylor Joy was announced to be starring in the lead role as a younger version of Theron's iteration. Alongside Joy, Furiosa is set to star Chris Hemsworth and Tom Burke, while Nathan Jones will reprise the memorable character of Rictus Erectus.
