Director George Miller has recently shared a much-needed update on his highly anticipated film, Mad Max 5: The Wasteland. The upcoming film is the sequel to the beloved Mad Max: Fury Road. The first Mad Max film made its original debut back in 1979, with actor Mel Gibson starring in the titular role.
Although the Mad Max franchise seems as though it has been around for nearly forever, it really started to pick up and draw attention with the release of the sequel, Mad Max: Fury Road. The sequel ushered in some of the most positive reviews that the franchise has seen to date. Not to mention, Fury Road was a huge hit at the box office, earning over $375 million against a production budget of around $185 million. Ever since the grand introduction of Tom Hardy's Max and Charlize Theron's Furiosa, fans have been desperate for the two to make the ultimate return to the cryptic wasteland of Mad Max: Fury Road.
Mad Max: Furiosa Prequel Delayed Until 2024
The announcement that there would be a sequel to the film arrived quite quickly after the release of Mad Max: Fury Road. Miller at the time revealed to fans his working title for the succeeding film,Mad Max: The Wasteland, and confirmed that he had mostly finished the entire script already. Unfortunately, since Miller's announcement, any updates or news regarding the film’s progress has been nearly impossible to find.
