Take a chance 2021 was a disappointment for gaming, this is proven by the fact that an indie game trumped over the biggest and mainstream releases, such as Resident Evil Village and Far Cry 6. Those games were fun to play but proved to be overall disappointing releases. Elden Ring however, continues to brew up hype, further than even the next instalment of Grand Theft Auto.
I don’t usually buy into the hype, because of what occurred with Cyberpunk 2077. But I remember seeing the footage from the network test and with FromSoftware’s track record I’ve taken the leap and pre-ordered the game. Only time can tell, if the game ends up becoming the cherry on top of FromSoftware’s proverbial kingdom or their first disappointment since Dark Souls 2. I’ll hold my breath and it will be wild.Anon
GC: But… why pre-order? There are few surer bets than a From game but what are you gaining, compared to what you stand to lose? Is a bonus gesture and a guide (that will probably be far less complete than the free fan-made ones) really worth it?
A question of time A bit gutted that I’m not going to play Horizon Forbidden West for the foreseeable. Not that I can’t get it but Elden Ring’s out at the end of the week. Due to time constraints I simply wouldn’t be able to finish Horizon before Friday, so it seems pointless playing half a game.
