Last year, Nintendo announced a revival of a classic turn-based strategy game series in the form of Advance Wars 1+2 Re-Boot Camp. This will bundle both Advance Wars and Advance Wars 2: Black Hole Rising into one package, with a new art style, refined mechanics, and changes that hope to give fans and newcomers a fresh experience. Many fans were excited about this new entry in the series, as there hasn't been a single Advance Wars game since Advance Wars: Days of Ruin on the Nintendo DS in 2008.
While it was initially announced to be released in 2021, the game was delayed to the following year, citing the game needing refinement before release. While the release date for the game was initially set in stone for April 8, Advance Wars 1+2 Re-Boot Camp would get delayed again. While the reason for this delay was stated in consideration of ongoing «world events,» it's heavily implied the ongoing war between Ukraine and Russia was the main reason. Considering the content of Advance Wars is too close to current events, this delay makes a lot of sense. Despite this, one fan has managed to get the game up and running, if only for a very short time.
